DISCOVER THE HISTORY OF FERRARI F1 CARS

ALBERTO ASCARI

JOSÉ FROILÁN GONZÁLEZ

1950

The car was used in the years 1950-1956. A Formula 1 car, designed in 1950 by Aurelio Lampredi and constructed by Ferrari. A 375S version was also created, adapted to the Indianapolis 500 races. The first victory of the 375 model was achieved by José Froilán González during the 1951 British Grand Prix. Alberto Ascari won two races and before the last Grand Prix he was a serious candidate for the championship title.

RICHIE GINTHER

WOLFGANG VON TRIPS

1960

A transitional year for Scuderia Ferrari, competing with the latest front- and rear-wheel-drive models. Some new rules changed the competition and the Indianapolis 500 Mile was no longer part of the World Championships. Cooper dominated the racing, but Ferrari had Phil Hill, Wolfgang von Trips, Richie Ginther, Cliff Allison and Willy Mairesse take the top three places in the race at Monza, thanks to the new rear engine that was the starting point for the new 246 P and 156 used in Formula 2.

JACKY ICKX

CLAY REGAZZONI

IGNAZIO GIUNTI

1970

After a difficult start of the season, Ferrari won again in F1 thanks to the competetive 312 B with a 180° V12 engine. Alongside Jacky Ickx, in Maranello, Ignazio Giunti and Clay Regazzoni raced the Prancing Horse. Regazzoni took his first F1 victory at Monza. With four successes and two double victories, Ferrari took second place in the constructors' championship, while the drivers' title went posthumously to Jochen Rindt, who died in an accident during qualifying for the Italian GP.

JODY SCHECKTER

GILLES VILLENEUVE

1980

A season of political haggling between FISA president Marie Balestre of motorsport's governing body and Bernie Eccleston, head of FOCA, the F1 constructors' association, has been unfavorable for Ferrari: the 312 T5 is incomprehensibly uncompetitive despite being built on the previous World Champion's car year. The Scuderia took only eighth place in the championship. Even Gilles Villeneuve was unable to tame this difficult single-seater and help Ferrari to a podium finish in a difficult season. At the end of the year, Jody Scheckter retired from Formula 1.

ALAIN PROST

NIGEL MANSELL

1990

The Scuderia started with the F1-90, an evolution of the previous innovative single-seater. The car had the number 1 on its nose thanks to Alain Prost who won the championship. His new teammate was Nigel Mansell. The difficult and laborious setup of the semi-automatic gearbox in 1989 paid off in the 1990 season. The single-seater was particularly competitive and Prost won five races and Mansell won in Portugal. That's why Prost came to Suzuka, the penultimate race of the season, to fight for the title with his old rival Ayrton Senna. Prost's collision with Senna right after the start interrupted their race and the Frenchman could no longer win the championship title. The dream of restoring the Maranello driver's title went up in smoke.

MICHAEL SCHUMACHER

RUBENS BARRICHELLO

2000

Back to Maranello, 21 years after Jody Scheckter won the World Drivers' Championship thanks to the competitiveness of F1-2000. The single-seater car had exceptionally well-planned aerodynamics, its weight was well below the minimum required by regulations, which allowed for perfect weight distribution by shifting the ballast, and the angle of the 10-cylinder engine was changed from 80° to 90°. Michael Schumacher, supported by an excellent team, took 9 victories and won the long season battle with Hakkinen on McLaren, With 10 victories - one thanks to rookie Rubens Barrichello - and a total of 170 points, the Scuderia repeated its 1999 success. For the Scuderia, it was the beginning of one of the most successful cycles in Formula 1 history.

FELIPE MASSA

FERNANDO ALONSO

2010

Refueling in the race is prohibited, and drivers reaching Q3 must start the race on the tires they last used in qualifying. Drivers still have just eight engines per season, even though the number of races has increased by one to 19. At Ferrari, Fernando Alonso replaces Kimi Raikkonen alongside Felipe Massa . The Spanish Ferrari driver, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and two Red Bull drivers: Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are closely fighting for the title. The F10 is off to a great start to the season with a double victory in Bahrain for Alonso and Massa. Fernando also wins in Germany, Italy, Singapore and Korea, and the fight for the title with Webber and Vettel continues until the last race. However, the Abu Dhabi race is painful for Ferrari as Fernando is behind Russian Vitaly Petrov in the Renault, who has a good top speed and is therefore difficult to overtake.

SEBASTIAN VETTEL

CHARLES LECLERC

2020

The name SF1000 refers to Ferrari's 1,000th race in the Formula 1 World Championship, which took place at the 2020 Tuscany Grand Prix. Moreover, due to the pandemic, the SF1000 model will also be used in the 2021 season. The improved version has been designated SF21. Due to the regulations, which have not changed significantly compared to the 2019 season, the Ferrari SF1000 is an evolution of its predecessor. However, team principal Mattia Binotto emphasized that the vehicle's design took into account the possibility of obtaining the best possible downforce, which necessitated the creation of a narrow rear; however, the front spoiler has remained almost unchanged. Apart from the rear, elements such as the suspension, air intakes, cooling system and gearbox have been redesigned
