TYPES

A halo is a breathtaking atmospheric phenomenon that graces the sky with its celestial elegance. Formed through the intricate dance of light and ice crystals suspended high in the atmosphere, halos manifest as ethereal circles, arcs, or luminous spots encircling the sun or moon. These mesmerizing displays captivate observers with their spectral hues and delicate radiance, painting the heavens with a surreal canvas of color and light.

Sun halos, also known as solar halos or solar arcs, typically appear as luminous circles or arcs surrounding the sun. They are formed when sunlight passes through hexagonal ice crystals found in cirrus clouds or high-altitude haze. As the light refracts and reflects within these crystals, it creates a halo effect around the sun, often accompanied by vibrant colors and subtle variations in brightness.

Moon halos, on the other hand, grace the night sky with their enchanting presence. Also known as lunar halos or moon rings, these phenomena manifest as luminous circles or arcs encircling the moon. Like sun halos, they are formed when moonlight passes through ice crystals in cirrus clouds, producing a halo effect that adds a celestial aura to the moon's radiant glow.

MYTHOLOGY

Ixion was a king in Greek mythology, known for his hubris and subsequent punishment by the gods. One of the most famous stories involving Ixion is his attempted seduction of Hera, the wife of Zeus, the king of the gods. Zeus, in an attempt to test Ixion's intentions, created a cloud in the shape of Hera. Ixion, unable to resist his lust, ended up fathering the centaurs, a race of half-human, half-horse creatures. As punishment for his arrogance and attempted seduction of Hera, Zeus condemned Ixion to eternal torment in Tartarus, the deepest part of the underworld. There, Ixion was bound to a fiery wheel that spun endlessly. This punishment is often seen as symbolic of divine justice and the consequences of defying the gods.
